Bangalore, May 10: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today expressed his profound grief at the death of Former Union Minister M S Gurupadaswamy.
In a condolence message, he said ''always simple, efficient, honest and a thorough gentleman, he has continuously strived for the welfare of the people.
''When required, he was adamant enough not to make any compromise in his firm philosophy.
''After entering into active politics at the young age of 29, he has served as member of both the houses of Parliament and as Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha.
''His contributions as Union Minister for Petroleum and Atomic Energy are worthy of emulation, Mr Yeddyurappa said.
"Guided and influenced by Acharya Kripalaniji, Mr Gurupadaswamy had given emphasis for transparency in all fields," he added.
"Irrespective of political parties, all of us are influenced by his exemplary public life,''he added.
He said in the death of the 89-year-old veteran leader, Karnataka State and the country had lost an able Parliamentarian.
